Pride Of Place
Responsible Business Network
FTS Merit are proud to be members of the Pride of Place Coalition, a project created by the Blackpool Pride of Place Partnership, which is part of Business in the Community — HRH The Prince of Wales’ Responsible Business Network.
The companies who have signed up to this initiative are businesses on the Fylde Coast who are all committed to contributing to their communities.
- Helping school children prepare for the world of work.
- Helping long-term unemployed people back into work.
A key focus of the Network is to give all children at least one encounter with a business before they leave school. Research shows that having 4- 5 good quality business encounters can reduce a child’s propensity to be classed as NEET by up to 85%. NEET is those who are ‘not in employment, education and training’.
Here at FTS Merit, we very much believe in the mission statement of the Coalition which is:
- To be the best we can be in delivering social and economic sustainability across all areas of our business.
- To join with other businesses to bring together our collective strengths and be a force for good
WE TAKE PRIDE IN working with
The Prince's Trust
We are pleased to be able to work with The Prince’s Trust team from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service who are based at South Shore Fire Station in Blackpool to provide work experience opportunities to the young people who need their support and who are part of the Team Program.
Team is a 12-week personal development programme which gives young people that are identified as NEET and aged 16–25 the chance to gain new skills, complete a qualification and meet new people through team-building activities, a residential trip, community project and work placement.
